Off the Beaten Path in Tennessee

Delta Bound

Just look at this menu from Delta Bound. It is so Southernly creative.

My husband, sister, and I were on a road trip in Tennessee. We were driving through Springhill making our way to Franklin when my sister had us stop at an antique store and afterwards stumbled upon Delta Bound.  The first thing that caught my eye on the menu was the Sweet Dirty Fries.

Delta Bound fries

I would have never thought to pair sweet potato fries and chili but it worked!  The sweet and crispy fries topped with smoky brisket chili, sweet juicy bits of roasted corn, and creamy, cool crema were layers of indulgent goodness. This definitely wet our appetites for more.

I am a fan of fried catfish being that I am a Mississippi girl where there are catfish houses (restaurants serving fried catfish).  I had never thought to serve fried catfish as a taco but this worked. The taco was dressed with creole slaw, roasted corn salsa and comeback sauce. This taco was awarded 2014 Best Taco at Nashville’s Street Food Awards. I know why.

I have made a blackened catfish taco. It was my opening audition dish on Masterchef.  For the recipe visit this link Blackened Catfish Taco recipe

Delta Bound pork burger

This picture does not do this pork burger justice. It is amazing! “The Big Pig” burger had a whole lot of pig going on. The first layer of pig was a pork patty and then pulled pork and lastly crispy Benton’s bacon.
