I can’t believe summer is almost over for kids. My oldest, Miller will be starting kindergarten this year. I am so excited for him. I know he will love school! Before he starts in a few weeks, we are preparing by doing all the things- school shopping, creating lunch box meal ideas, etc. For his lunch, he has a bento box that I will pack in his lunch bag. It includes a freezer pack that will keep his foods cold. He also has cold and hot food storage containers (ZOKU food jars) as well. I had similar ones when I was young.
Fun fact: My sisters and I packed our own school lunch when we were old enough. I remember if I ran out of jelly for my pb&j sandwiches that I would make a pb sandwich and pack grapes to eat with it so it would be like a pb&j haha. I remember one of my favorite lunches I packed was leftover spaghetti. I would warm it up that morning and then put it in my thermos. By lunchtime, it was still slightly warm. Oh my goodness it was so good! I actually can eat spaghetti cold. I love it that much! haha!
I’m sharing some of the lunch ideas I will be packing for Miller. Hopefully it will help you easily pack your kid(s) lunch this year.
Lunch box meal ideas:
Yogurt, fruit and granola (store in ZOKU Neat Stack Jar to keep cool)
Peanut Butter and honey served with apple slices and mini pita (don’t forget to pack the Kids Pocket Utensil set for easy spreading)
Chicken Salad with mini pita for scooping or making mini sandwiches (freezer pack keeps chicken salad cold)
Snacks- veggie straws, freeze dried fruits, fresh fruit and veggie goldfish
Don’t forget about dessert! Pack one of my Whitney’s Cookies in their lunchbox for a sweet treat.
