I feel as though I am a better me when my mind, body, and spirit are healthy.
Mind:
This year I am going to try to concentrate on being more positive. A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. -Proverbs 17:22
The devil wants to take away our joy and crush our spirits. Negativity can really consume a person. I will be a healthier me if I focus on positivity. One way I can do this as well is be aware of others around me. Taking time to speak to a cashier at a store, barista at a coffee shop, waiter/waitress at a restaurant, etc. or simply offering a smile to help cheer up their day or offer encouragement will in turn brighten my day. I encourage you to try doing the same.
Spirit:
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. -Philippians 4:8
My mom has always encouraged me to concentrate on whatever is pure and lovely.

Body:
The Lord has given me a passion for cooking. He has also given me a desire to be healthy.
One of my go-to healthy recipes is my turnip green pesto. It is the very last recipe in my cookbook. I like to think I saved the best for last.

I love it simply on crackers or toasted slices of cornbread.
You can transform it into a meal by tossing it with shrimp and sauteed roasted red bell peppers and cherry tomatoes. serve over creamy grits

Just so you know, I have your MasterChef episodes recorded on DVD — shhhh, don’t tell 🙂 — and watch them whenever I need a pick-me-up in my spirit. Especially that very last episode when you cook the chicken in 7 minutes. I’ve never been so proud of someone I don’t know personally. May God continue to bless everything you put your hand to.
