I had a whirlwind week in New York. I was in NYC for T.J. Maxx’s pop-up lab launch. The lab was set up in Herald Square. Women experienced the lab which included a quiz and interactive components. The purpose was to help women determine what makes them unique and their individuality to help them stand out and shine.
I along with Julie Khuu and Demetria Ballard were invited to kick-off the pop up lab. We were chosen out of tons of women who shared their story for the Maxx You Project contest, as their Hero Women. I can’t thank T.J. Maxx enough for the experience of the Maxx You workshop, pop-up lab and my mentoring session.
After the kick-off of the pop-up lab, we were invited to a media event with magazine editors and bloggers. Julie, Demetria and I were able to share our stories. We also heard from Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran who answered questions about what makes her unique and her road to success.
The day ended with my one-on-one mentoring session with Barbara. Barbara is the real deal. Her story of her success is inspiring. I encourage you to visit Barbara’s blog where you can learn more about Barbara and get some amazing business tips.
I shared with Barbara my story of wanting to be a chef at a young age, winning Masterchef, writing cookbooks, and my dream of opening my own restaurant. I also shared with her about how I am a mom and asked her help on how to juggle being a business woman and a mom. Barbara was encouraging and equipped me with the steps I need to take to achieve my dream. I left inspired, determined and motivated. The Lord is so good y’all! He knows my heart’s desires. I am so grateful the Lord gave me a husband who encourages my dreams. At the beginning of this year, Ryan had me write down my goals and dreams for the year, 3 years from now and 5 years from now. Can I tell you that one of my goals was to become a better business woman. Little did I know then that because of T.J. Maxx, I would be working on just that this year. Again, the Lord knows my heart’s desires. In everything I do, I do it for Him. I would like for you to join me in prayer over my restaurant. I am in the concept stage now. This is a BIG project. It is an exciting time. Stay tuned!
