Apple Season in Blue Ridge, Georgia

I love fall! For the foodie in me, a new season brings an abundance of fresh produce to experiment with. It is apple, pumpkin, fall squash, and greens season.  Grocery stores provide just a sample of apple varieties that are available this time of year. That is why I love exploring farmer’s markets and apple orchards like Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

It has become a fall tradition for my husband, son and I to visit my husband’s grandparents at their cabin near Blue Ridge.

Isn’t their covered bridge entrance dreamy? I love the vibrant red hue. I had to have a photo op to document my 19th week of pregnancy in this super cute striped hooded plaid accent Pink Blush maternity top. #sponsored

If you are planning to visit Blue Ridge in the fall, I suggest traveling the third or last week in October at the earliest to enjoy the fall foliage. This picture showcases the fall foliage last year on the last weekend in October.

Mercier Orchards has an array of fresh apples available though from September through October. My favorite apple for eating is Jona Gold. It is juicy with a crispness. Its flavor is sweet and slightly tart. It is also good to use for baking. For more information on baking and eating apples, visit Mercier Orchards’ website.

I love combining the sweet and slightly tart Jona Gold and tart Granny Smith apples to make my baked apple hand pies.
